About
Evan J (he/they) is a PhD student at the University of Northern British Columbia, specializing in health humanities and northern literary fiction. His research explores how stories by northern Canadian authors—both Indigenous and non-Indigenous—can illuminate health inequities and inform culturally safe approaches to wellbeing. Evan brings a decade of experience working in remote First Nations communities, leading literacy and digital access programs, and serving on northern health and literacy committees. A widely published writer and former literary festival curator, he has received major arts grants and residencies, including Canada Council funding.
