About

Dr. Viviane Josewski is an Assistant Professor in the School of Nursing at the University of Northern British Columbia (UNBC), a Research Associate with the National Collaborating Centre for Indigenous Health (NCCIH), and an Early Career Researcher EPIC-AT Fellow. A white settler, Dr. Josewski grew up in Germany where she started her career as a nurse. After emigrating to Canada, she completed a MSc in Population and Public Health, and PhD in Health Sciences. Over the past 15 years, she has worked on numerous interdisciplinary Indigenous-partnered projects focused on enhancing culturally safe care in the areas of mental health and addictions, and more recently, telehealth and diabetes. This work forms the basis of a growing program of research broadly focused on advancing equity-oriented health system transformations. Intent on creating real-world solutions to complex health care challenges, her research brings together community members, including people with lived experience, community-based organizations, health system partners and researchers from different disciplines to foster collaborative spaces and catalyze social change. As an EPIC-AT Fellow, she will further amplify her research impact as she grows her networks, and expertise to co-develop innovative solutions to key challenges in aging in the North.
