About
I have been with the Northern Medical Program (NMP) since 2007, living on the unceded territory of the Lheidli T’enneh. I’ve been a Senior Lab Instructor, and I’m currently an Assistant Professor, along with several educational leadership roles (currently the Assistant Dean of the NMP). In 2022 I was awarded a 3M National Teaching Fellowship. My PhD is from UBC where I studied extracellular matrix remodelling in fibrosis. My research foci now are: distributed health professions education, and strategies to build the rural health workforce. I’m very interested in ensuring we’re doing the best possible job of training healthcare providers for the north and ensuring that northern youth see healthcare as a realistic career option for them. I’m the provincial lead for the Healthcare Travelling Roadshow and have been since its inception in 2009 (https://www2.unbc.ca/healthcare-travelling-roadshow).
